Results from Leipzig 2014

  • Rethinking technology – towards sufficiency and a sustainable production.

  • Technology transfer towards renewable energies.

  • Introduce resource issues into trade unions and job issues (p.e. RSA: one million climate jobs).

  • Re-politicize Renewable Energies, because they also depend on Extraction.

  • Make resource use for final products more visible.

  • Good information network → education of affected people.

  • Look at the grass roots – affected people.

  • More presence in mainstream media.

  • Broad education campaigns.

  • Make research more visible.

  • Trans-disciplinary education: engage engineers with socio-economic results.

  • “Naming and shaming” of popular brands for negative practises in the supply chain.

Open Questions

  • How do we abandon the extractivist logic? What alternatives are there for extractivist societies?

  • Mapping of resistance.
