co-munity intends to support and make communities and groups benefit from process of commons-based peer production, while at the same time allowing groups, organisations and communities to choose what to share and what to protect from the public. To stimulate this practice, we have developed a commoning process for any contents (public or private) on the platform.

If you are the author of a (original) piece of content, you can make it available to the public under a Creative Commons license (Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike). By doing so, you are contributing to a commons that everybody can use, improve and share.

The procedure is very simple: click on the "commonify" button on the links section of documents or bibliography pages (usually on the bottom right). The content becomes available in the Commons area of co-munity, but can obviously be distributed elsewhere.

Please note that commoning is irrevocable:

Once something has been published under a CC license, licensees may continue using it according to the license terms for the duration of applicable copyright and similar rights. As a licensor, you may stop distributing under the CC license at any time, but anyone who has access to a copy of the material may continue to redistribute it under the CC license terms.

Help! I want to share my article, but can't find any commonify button!

If you don't see a commonify button, then you are probably not set as the owner of the page in question. This situation can happen when content has been imported from an external source, or when someone else published a content that belongs to you (e.g. a paper).

If you want to reclaim ownership of any piece of content, please write to drupal-support with the topic "co-munity content ownership". In the mail text include the link to the content you want, your username (or e-mail address) on co-munity and a proof that the content is yours (for bibliographic entries it's usually obvious from the authors names).

Note: The commoning process is under development and has currently limited functionality of making available attachments of bibliographic entries. In the future, other contents (documents, media, etc.) will also be able to be commonified. If you have suggestions or feedback for improving this process, or if you find any bugs, please post in the co-munity issues page.
