co-munity upgrade (2.50) and server migration
We have yesterday migrated the co-munity platform to the new hybrid machines of Ecobytes (see story #227), allowing the site to be served now faster from SSD hard disks. We have therefore overcome some performance bottlenecks and find the site to be more performing. We will keep an eye on monitors to fine tune the performance of the new server, but would be happy to hear already your experience with it.
Furthermore, the co-munity site to the codebase of Open Atrium 7.x-2.50. This upgrade brings all the fixes and changes from upstream into force.
You can see a videocast on the Atrium 2.50 enhancements, especially focusing on the ability to export/import Blueprints, which allow sharing best practices and succesful implementations of space layouts across Atrium-based platforms. This is definitely a major step in allowing the user-experience of the platform to benefit from the contributions from the large Drupal community, so expect improvements on this field within the next months.
Some of other changes since our last update include:
- fixes multi-upload for Files sections (drive, etc.)
- fixes issue with title on calendar iCal/.ics export
- the home page has been set to the user page by default (login for non-logged, user page for logged in)
- team etherpads have been discontinued (as we are excited to look into more interesting technologies and their integration, such as the recently open-sourced hackpad - and we already have it running on our infrastructure)
- changed the garbage collection for sessions to 1 week, instead of 1 day, to reduce the loss of data upon submission
Want to support the development of co-munity with some of your time? We have as much need for technical contributors, as for non-technical users. Visit the co-munity space and contribute feedback from your user experience, help to find or close bugs, help with translation, improve the site documentation with information on features and use cases, etc. If you like to support our work otherwise, you can help us pay the servers and buy some coffee by offering a donation to Ecobytes.
Enjoy the new release!
